Heidi Gilboy is pleased to present cop the nut; New York based artist Patrick Lundeen's first solo show in the UK - inaugurating Heidi Gilboy gallery in a temporary warehouse venue. Lundeen's video-work cop the nut, 2005 is the first in a series of one-work projects planned for 2007/08 by the gallery.
In this instance, the single artist's video has been given precedent - promoting a significance rarely granted to an individual work in the exhibition space. cop the nut functions as a singular durational exhibit that, in this context, has perhaps more in common with a type of public sculpture separated from the idea of object. Lundeen's cop the nut scrutinises desire as a self-perpetuating and compelling lack that cannot be gratified by action.
